Early Easter Shivers

Well that’s the Easter break over for most of the schools here in Wales and what a cold one it was. We didn’t really see any snow here in the South but even our kids didn’t complain about that, a sure sign that they’re fed up of winter and want to get into shorts and sandals!

Being in children’s retail makes it difficult to spend time with your own children on school holiday time, as that is when , fingers crossed, you are at your busiest. So of the couple of days we both had with our kids we were lucky to get a sunny Easter Sunday which we spent Easter Egg hunting at the National History Museum in St Fagans on the outskirts of Cardiff. If you are ever in this part of the

world the National Museum of Wales has some tremendous sites and they are all FREE to visit.

St Fagans (http://www.museumwales.ac.uk/en/stfagans/) is a  living history museum where they rescue heritage buildings from around Wales and faithfully reconstruct them. They range from a 12th century chapel to Victorian Working Mans Institute. Our kids who are now 11 and 13 still ask to visit and find something new everytime.

Easter Monday proved to be a colder greyer day and none of us had the appetite to wander about outdoors. Luckily the best cinema in Cardiff, cinema 1 at Chapter Arts (http://www.chapter.org/aboutus/index.html) had an afternoon showing of Skyfall, perfect for an inclement Bank Holiday. Even Mamgu, who is 82 yrs old came with us.

Luckily for the rest of the week it’s been more blue sky than grey and we have seen more of our lovely customers decide that it was about time to escape from those winter boots. It may not quite be sandal weather yet but it is heading in the right direction.
